Iridium Cables

A wide selection of cables are available to connect compatible Iridium devices at varying lengths such as the LMR 240 and LMR 400 coax cables that offer low loss communications. Several Iridium cable kits for both passive and active antennas provide extendable use and flexible applications.

Understanding Coaxial Cables

Coax cables are made with copper-coated steel wires that sit at the core to carry high frequency signals. It is encased with a dielectric insulator, which is wrapped in a metal shield to prevent electromagnetic interference. The entire cable is then protected by a rubber cover to allow for use indoors and outdoors.

Coaxial Cables with TNC Male and N Male connectors

LMR is the next generation of RF coax cables as they offer greater flexibility and easier installation. These cables are primarily used for transmission for antennas designed for satellite communication.

Cables have different connectors on each end and are plated with high-connectivity metals to retain the integrity of the cable as the signal passes through between devices.  The type of connector depends on what device is being connected and the distance it is placed from the source of power.

TNC Male to TNC Male

LMR 240 cable is an outdoor rated low loss communications coax with an impedance of 50 Ohm and best suited for shorter antenna feed runs. They come in 10, 15, 20, and 25 feet lengths.

LMR 400 replaces RG-8 cables and has an impedance of 50 Ohm. It is widely used for jumper assemblies in wireless communications systems and short antenna feed runs. These coax cables are available in 30, 40, 50, and 60 feet.

LMR 600 cable is designed for outdoor with greater flexibility for handling and bending, and it has an impedance of 50 Ohm. It is available in 75, 100, 125, and 175 feet. The LMR 600 ultra comes in 150 feet.

N Male to N Male

The coax cables with a N Male to N Male connector come in the following different thickness and lengths:

  • LMR 200 3/16" in 87 feet

  • RG213U 3/16" in 131 feet

  • LMR 300 5/16" in 149 feet

  • LMR 400 3/8" in 227 feet

  • LMR 500 1/2" in 286 feet

  • LMR 600 1/2" in 351 feet

  • TWS 900DB 5/8" in 526 feet

Iridium Beam Passive and Active Antenna Cable Kits

Cable kits can be bought separately for various Iridium devices and antennas. These include the Iridium GO antenna adapter cable designed to connect to an omnidirectional antenna. Active cables perform better over longer distances and are used for enterprise and commercial applications.

Iridium antenna cables come in passive antenna cable kits that are available in 9, 18, 29.5, 36, 65.5, and 98 feet. The Iridium Beam active cable kits come in 75.5, 111.5, 170.6, 246.1, and 341.21 feet cable lengths.

Beam GPS Cable Kits

Iridium cables for GPS/ Iridium antenna devices that are permanently installed or temporarily mounted come in varying cable lengths. The Iridium Beam GPS cable kits are available in 18, 27, 36, 60 and 90 feet.
